Dr. Cantwell graduated from the University of South Florida in 2012 with a double major in Biochemistry and Biomedical Physics. During his undergraduate studies, he was part of a prestigious research team that developed an innovative method for medication delivery. His contributions to this work earned him the opportunity to present at the National Conference of Undergraduate Research and to become a published co-author in the Journal of the American Chemical Society.
Inspired by a strong interest in podiatric medicine and surgery early in his academic career, Dr. Cantwell pursued his doctorate in Podiatric Medicine from the California School of Podiatric Medicine, graduating in 2016. He furthered his education and training at the Yale School of Medicine, where he completed a three-year surgical residency specializing in podiatric medicine with a focus on foot and ankle reconstructive surgery. During this time, he received several awards and contributed as a co-author to the textbook Interdisciplinary Approach to Limb Salvage of the Diabetic Foot.
Dr. Cantwell is board-certified and an active member of the American Podiatric Medical Association and the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons. His practice involves performing surgeries at multiple facilities, including Merritt Island Surgery Center, Rockledge Regional Medical Center, Cape Canaveral Hospital, and Advanced Surgical Care of Viera. Additionally, he dedicates two days a week to patient care at the Rockledge Regional Wound Center and the Melbourne Wound Center.
Outside of his professional life, Dr. Cantwell enjoys spending time with his wife, Lauren, and their three sons. Together, they share a love for family activities
